A real quote, before riding season.

In Quebec, motorcycle insurance is a split product. The SAAQ public plan covers bodily injury on the road. The private market, that is us, covers your bike against collision, theft, fire, and vandalism, plus the property-damage liability portion that goes beyond the public minimum. The same rater that handles cars handles motorcycles, so you can get a real price in minutes.

What it covers

Three layers of protection for your bike.

A Quebec motorcycle policy is built on three pieces. Pick the combination that matches how and where you ride.

Collision and theft

Repair or replacement if you drop the bike, get hit, or come back to an empty parking spot. Comprehensive coverage adds protection for fire, vandalism, and weather damage, including in winter storage.

Liability beyond SAAQ minimums

SAAQ covers bodily injury under the public plan. Your private policy covers property damage to other vehicles, structures, and assets you might hit, with limits well above the legal minimum so a serious claim does not become a personal one.

Add-on coverages

Custom parts and modifications, accessories like saddlebags and intercom systems, riding gear, and roadside assistance for when you break down 200 km from home. Bolted on to your base policy, priced per add.

Seasons and savings

Riding seasons, storage, and how to save.

Most Quebec riders are on the road from April or May through September or October, then put the bike away for the winter. Insurers know this, and a properly structured policy reflects it. You can keep year-round comprehensive coverage to protect the bike in storage (fire, theft, vandalism) while paying a reduced rate for the months you are not riding.

We shop the market across 25+ insurers and ask the questions that change your rate: where the bike sleeps, what kind of riding you do, whether you have completed a recognized riding-safety course, whether you also insure a car with us. Bundling often takes a meaningful slice off your annual premium.

If you only ride part of the year, ask about a seasonal endorsement so you are not paying for full road coverage in January.

Who it is for

If you ride in Quebec, this is for you.

Motorcycle coverage fits anyone with a registered bike on Quebec roads. Common situations we cover:

  • Street and standard riders on a daily commute or weekend cruise
  • Sport-bike owners (supersport, naked, hyperbike)
  • Touring riders covering long distances across Quebec and the northeast
  • Dual-sport and adventure riders splitting road and off-road use
  • Vintage and classic motorcycles with limited annual mileage
  • New riders, especially those with a recognized training certification (often discount-eligible)
FAQ

Motorcycle insurance, answered.

The questions Quebec riders ask us most. Still unsure? A licensed broker replies the same business day.

How is motorcycle insurance different from car insurance in Quebec?
Quebec splits motor vehicle insurance between the SAAQ public plan and the private market. SAAQ covers bodily injury on the road for every registered vehicle. Your private motorcycle policy covers everything else: damage to your bike, theft, fire, and your liability for property damage to other vehicles or structures. You need both, and only the private side is something you shop for.
Do I need motorcycle insurance year-round if I only ride in summer?
You need liability coverage whenever the bike is registered for road use, and you need comprehensive coverage as long as it is stored somewhere theft, fire, or vandalism can happen. Many riders carry year-round comprehensive (to protect the bike in storage) with a seasonal road-coverage component that drops off in winter, which lowers the annual premium without leaving the bike exposed.
Are aftermarket parts and accessories covered?
Base policies cover the bike as it left the factory. Custom exhausts, performance parts, painted bodywork, saddlebags, intercom systems, and other accessories need to be declared and scheduled on the policy to be covered for their full replacement cost. Tell us what you have added and we will make sure the policy reflects it.
Can I save with a riding-safety certification?
Yes, in many cases. Insurers often offer a discount for completion of a recognized motorcycle training or rider-safety course, especially for newer riders. We will ask about it when we shop your quote and apply any available discount across the carriers we work with.
